This post is part of a series entitled: Reflections from A Course in Miracles . This is Chapter 5 Healing and Wholeness, section I The Invitation to the Holy Spirit, part 2
In the first half of this chapter, we learned that the Holy Spirit does not consider idea sharing as a loss, this is a function of the ego. Spirit is complete and whole and lacks nothing and therefore does not find any detriment to the sharing of ideas, quite the opposite. Sharing ideas enables them to spread, to gain traction and grow.
In this post, we are going to look a little bit more at the what is meant by the mind of the holy spirit.
I have not been shy about my belief that all Major Religious texts seek to teach us the same things, through symbolism. Once I realized the message is the same, I was able to understand the symbols more readily.
“His symbolic function makes the Holy Spirit difficult to understand because symbolism is open to different interpretations. “
In this chapter, we learn that the Holy Spirit is a symbol of the universal consciousness. It is like the world wide web for the mind, it is what connects our thoughts and ideas with others. world wide web for the mind, it is what connects our thoughts and ideas with others.
“Holy spirit, or the Universal Inspiration, taught me first and foremost that this Inspiration is for all.”
“He represents a state of mind close enough to one-mindedness that transfer to it is at last possible”
If then, the mind of the Holy Spirit is a symbol for Universal Consciousness, then sharing ideas with another is not a loss, but a return to knowledge.
“The Voice of the Holy Spirit is the Call to Atonement, or the restoration of the integrity of the mind.”
“The Holy spirit is the mind of the Atonement.”
We already know the atonement in the archaic definition means: reconciliation or agreement. We also know that ACIM seeks to help us with our own atonement, by reconciling the incongruence between the Holy Spirit (Universal Mind) and the Ego. Once each mind accepts the truth, there will no longer need to be a call to atone.
Finally, we learn that the shared inspiration of all humankind (sonship) induces a perception of the Truth of the Universe as it is, not as the ego tells us it is. Accepting this atonement brings us as close to heaven as possible and truly can be described as heaven on earth.
