Healing and the Changelessness of the mind (part two)

This post is part of a series entitled: Reflections from a Course in Miracles. This is Chapter 7, The Gifts of the Kingdom, Section V Healing and the changelessness of Mind.

In the last post, we learned the difference between Magic and Miracles (Healing).  Magic seeks to weaken and miracles seek to heal or make whole. Only the whole minded can heal other with any consistency. An inconsistent healer is one who is not whole-minded, exceptions to healing occur because they are made by fear.

The unhealed healer also seeks gratitude for his miracle. He thinks the miracle comes from the body who performed it and does not recognize the hand of spirit that made the healing possible.

The duality of life is that we have two minds. We each have both the ego mind and spirit or intuition. All behavior begins in the mind and therefore the mind is the only place in which healing can occur. As long as spirit is contained in the body, it shares a mind with the ego. This will never change, the ego is contained in the mind of the body. This is what we mean by the changelessness of the mind. The ego will always be part of the mind.

Remember, we learned previously that learning is not required in the Kingdom of Heaven because its knowledge is innate. Therefore, learning is a function of the ego. Once we learn to submit the ego-mind to that of spirit, we have the power to create whatever life we choose. We need only have the ego step out of the way. This is our life long lesson. Yes, it is a lesson, because as long as we have a body, we have an ego and the ego must learn to submit.

“True learning is constant, and so vital in its power for change that a Son of God can recognize his power in one instant and change the world in the next. That is because changing his mind, he has changed the most powerful device that was ever given to him.”

As soon as we learn to recognize our own power, the world is our oyster. This is our lesson.

When we recognize our own power and become vigilant for those ego thoughts, we begin to heal.  In order to heal our brother, we must recognize that he, like us, has the unchangeable mind of ego as well and that any action of exclusion or fear or anger committed by him, came from his ego and not his spirit-mind. When we change the way he perceive him, he can begin to change how he perceives himself. This is how spirit uses you to heal your brother.
