The Gifts of the Kingdom

This post is part of a series entitled: Reflections from A Course in Miracles. This is the first post of Chapter 7, The Gifts of the Kingdom. Part I. The Last Step.

You were created in the image of God, you are his child, created in his likeness. You have been giving the power to create. Think about it, everything you do is creation in some elemental way; you create at work, you create in your hobbies, you create through pro-creation. You are a creator.  You have been given this power, yet you are not equal to God, because he created you. You are his child and co-creator.

When you become vigilant for spirit mind and assist spirit in the purification of your ego-ideals, you claim your power to create. Think of your mind like a bowl, when you spend all of your time in pain, it is because you are attempting to hold two opposing views; the views of the ego and the views of spirit. It is only in recognizing that you and spirit are one that you gain your power to create.

Love cannot be contained, it will always extend outward, it cannot be contained.  You are part of the Kingdom of God and your creations are part of the same Kingdom.  All of God’s creations have been created in Love and therefore are eternal. Only love is eternal.

The ego does not create out of love, but out of competition. The ego tries to bargain for power, yet it only needs to submit in order to have it. To bargain is to imply limitations. God does not limit his gifts in this way. His gifts are true and eternal and do not require bargaining.

“Eternity is the indelible stamp of creation. The eternal are in peace and joy forever.”

When we embrace the three lessons of the last chapter, we have prepared ourselves for what is to come. The final step is God’s to take, but difficult to explain in Human words. Spirit always seeks to translate useless information into useful information and converting meaningless in to meaningful. He will translate the next steps for us, after he has ascertained that we have accepted ourselves as both eternal and perfect.

When we learn to listen to intuition, instead of ego, we begin to create a world for ourselves of peace and abundance, in teaching these techniques to others, we expand them, giving them greater ground to grow. Love expands, Hate contracts. When we operate form spirit, our instructions will come naturally, our guidance becomes clear. It is our job to grow the Kingdom of Heaven, through peace and love.
